Right on. =) Cheers to you and your managing of what's really important to you and not getting distracted by the bullshit!

It certainly is inundating, sifting through all the inaneness that we're trained to value. I see the conveyor belts society sets up for people, the hamster wheels, etc, and really want nothing to do with it. This awareness is very hard for me personally, because I'm still young (20 years old). I'm at a point in my life where I have to conform in order to make a way for myself to keep evolving. Need to get a job, go to school, etc., unless I want to live off of my parents the rest of my life (which I really really don't). Just gotta keep plugging away, but not get lost or forget what I'm working towards, I suppose.

I think at some point I set down the idea of having tangible goals and decided that it was okay to value connecting with my friends, keeping my brain engaged with my universe, and helping out in the community--rather than getting hung up on the school/degree/job/house/baby treadmill--and that's worked out just fine so far. It's all about axiology--deciding what you value and then realizing how that might be different from mainstream culture.

Thank you so much, Wendy. =)

I have not read or before heard of "The Underacheiver's Manifesto", but I'll look into it! Thanks!

Yeah, it's hard sometimes to motivate myself, between disinterest and crippling fear. In what way ARE you driven, and what do you consider to be the traditional sense?

This is gorgeous; I'm sure it'll speak to a lot of people. Holy cow, the artwork, the artwork!

Have you ever read "The Underachiever's Manifesto" by Ray Bennett? It's a tiny little tome, but it speaks to me--made me feel better for not being driven in the traditional sense.

Hooray for burning bridges! Hooray for every form of destruction that ultimately leads to REPAIR. Of course REBUILDING is also another option. Either way, keep matches on you at all times...
Oh, look, it's another of my late-night rants!
